What if Objects had IDs is a speculative design project in which the everyday mundane object such a ballpoint pen is personified by way of being issued an unique identification number and passport. The passport is a cumulation of information and detailed documentation of the genesis of the object, including its identification image, material composition, production, travel history and details about its recyclability.
This serves as both a comprehensive educational tool to allow one to better understand the overall harm done to the environment through the production of this singular product, while humanising the inanimate object to prompt the everyday user to critically re-evaluate the value of materials in our lives and to be more conscious of our usage of them.
